Vivekananda Nursery & Primary School

Our school is out in Eriyur Sunchalnattham, which is part of the Dharmapuri district. We focus on the younger kids, from nursery age up through the primary years. The building sits along the Mdr654 road. It’s a plain building, nothing too flashy, but it serves the children in this area well. Every morning you can hear the kids playing outside before the bell rings for classes to start. We have a few classrooms and enough benches for everyone to sit. Teaching here is about the basics—reading, writing, and a bit of numbers. The teachers live nearby so they know most of the families in the village. It makes things easier when a child is having a hard time. We don't have a giant playground, just some open space where they run around. The dust kicks up when it's dry. Parents drop their kids off on their way to work in the fields or the local shops. It is a very local setup. We keep the walls painted when we can afford the supplies. It feels like a community spot more than just a strict institution. We follow the usual government terms and holidays. In the afternoons, the walk home can be hot, so we try to finish up while there is still a bit of shade. It’s just a normal school doing what schools do in a small place like Dharmapuri.
