Down in Samalpatti, things move a bit slower than the big cities, but at our place on Uthangarai road, it’s always active. We are a producer company, which basically means we work with palm products and millets coming from the nearby farms. Our building at No. 518 is easy to find if you know the area. There’s usually a pile of stuff waiting to be sorted or bags stacked up near the door. Dealing with palm products is messy work, and your hands get rough after a while. The millets need a lot of cleaning too, because there’s always a bit of stone or husk mixed in. It gets very hot here in the afternoons, so we try to get the heavy lifting done early in the morning. We have a few local people who come in every day to help with the processing. It’s not a quiet place because the machines for grinding and cleaning make a lot of noise. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just sit outside and wait for it to come back. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. People just know us because we’ve been at this spot for some time. We focus on the grains and the palm sugar or whatever else we are making that week. It's a simple setup, just honest work done by people who live right here in the village or just down the road.
