We’ve been here at 227, Thirupathy Nagar for a while now. Most days start pretty early because the sun gets hot fast. Making bricks isn't exactly a clean job, but it's what we do. You’ll usually see a few of us moving stuff around or checking the kilns. It’s a bit noisy with the trucks coming in and out, but that’s just how it is. Sometimes the dust gets everywhere, even inside the small office area. People around here know where we are. We don't have a big sign or anything fancy, just the gates. It’s mostly just hard work and making sure things are dry enough before they go into the fire. Some days are slower when it rains, and we just wait it out under the sheds. The clay gets heavy after a storm. We’ve got a small crew, mostly guys from nearby. We talk about the weather a lot because it really matters for the drying process. If it's too humid, everything takes twice as long. We just keep at it, day after day. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s steady. Most of the time, we’re just focused on the next batch. You get used to the smell of the smoke and the sound of the machinery after a few weeks. It’s home for us, in a way. Just a regular spot in Thirupathy Nagar where we make things that stay put for a long time.
