Shivam Garments

Our shop, Shivam Garments, is at No. 68 Kamal Road. It is a simple place with a glass front that we have to wipe down every morning because of the dust from the street traffic. We have got racks of shirts and pants lined up inside the shop. It is mostly just me and one other guy helping out most days. We open the shutters around ten and stay until the market starts to quiet down in the evening. Kamal Road can get pretty congested, so we see a lot of people walking by on their way to other shops or the bus stop. We try to keep the stock fresh, but we don't go overboard with the latest styles that won't last more than a month. We prefer stuff that people can actually wear for a long time. There is a small stool behind the counter where I sit when there are no customers. I usually read the paper or talk to the neighbor who runs the shop next door. We have known each other for years. Sometimes we trade change when one of us runs out of small notes in the till. It is a basic way of doing things. We don't have a website or anything like that. If you want to see what we have, you just have to come in and look through the racks yourself. It is a good enough way to make a living.
