Minakshi Marble

Minakshi Marble is over in Govindpur, right next to the Bhuaiphor Mandir. Being so close to the temple means we hear the bells and the prayers all day long. It's a busy little spot, especially on festival days when the whole road gets crowded with people. Our shop is just a basic setup where we keep our marble stock. We don't have a lot of space, so things are tucked in wherever they fit. Most of the time, I’m sitting out front on a plastic chair waiting for someone to stop by. We get a lot of people who come for the temple and then notice us and come in to ask about prices. The dust from the marble tends to get on everything, including the plants outside, so we’re always splashing water around to keep it down. It’s a family-run thing and we’ve been in this district for years. We don't do any big fancy brochures or anything like that. If you want to see what we have, you just have to come and walk through the aisles. Sometimes we have tea with the neighbors and talk about how the area is changing. Govindpur used to be much quieter, but now there’s more traffic. We just keep the doors open and see who comes in. It’s not a complicated business, just buying and selling stone and making sure people get what they saw in the yard. We aren't fancy, but we have been here a long time.
