Hengool Fed Bamboo Producer Company Limited

Our company is located in the Garamara Chapari area of Dergaon. It is a bit of a trek to get out here, but this is where the bamboo is. We go by the name Hengool, and we are really just a collection of local folks from the Akhanda Nngaps area. The office is a modest spot where we keep our records and meet up to discuss the week’s work. Most of the time, you won’t find us inside anyway; we are usually out in the fields or at the loading points. There is a lot of coordination involved in getting bamboo from the local farms to the buyers in the bigger towns. We deal with the daily struggles of rural life, like power cuts and rough roads, but we manage. We aren’t trying to be the biggest company out there; we just want to make sure the bamboo we grow here in Dergaon actually finds a market. It takes a lot of manual labor to cut, clean, and sort the bamboo, and we do most of that ourselves or with the help of neighbors. Sometimes we sit under the shade of the trees to talk about prices or the next harvest cycle. It’s a slow, steady kind of life. We are just practical people doing practical work, keeping things moving as best as we can in our little corner of Garamara Chapari.
