About Jindal Steel Power Limited – Metals & Minerals in Deoghar
Out in Sunderpahari, specifically here working for Jindal Steel Power Limited in Tesobathan, the days start early. We are mostly focused on the steel operations. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and making sure the furnaces are doing what they should. The block is usually quiet until the shift starts, then it's all engines and clanking metal. We don't have a lot of frills here. The office is small and we mostly stay out on the floor or near the equipment. People from the nearby villages walk in for their shifts. We've got a lot of ground to cover every day. The dust gets on everything, but you get used to it after a week or so. I remember when the site was smaller, but now there is more to look after. We just follow the schedule and try to keep things moving. There isn't much time for sitting around. When the sun is high, it gets pretty warm under the corrugated roofs. We grab water and keep going. Most of us have been doing this for years, so we know the sounds of the machines by heart. If something sounds off, we stop and check it. It’s just honest work in a part of the country that doesn't get much attention. We get the steel ready and wait for the transport trucks to arrive at the gate. That's the daily routine for us here in Tesobathan.
