Shyam Sales

Our shop, Shyam Sales, is located in Sant Nagar, over in the Burari part of North Delhi. If you’ve been to Burari, you know how the streets can get. It’s a lively neighborhood with people always moving around. We set up here to sell things that people in the area need for their homes or projects. The shop isn't huge, but we pack a lot into the shelves. Sometimes it takes a minute to find exactly what a customer is looking for because we have so much stock tucked away in corners. We open up early in the morning, usually around the same time the neighbors start heading out for work. It’s mostly regular faces coming in, people who live a few streets away. We spend a lot of time talking to customers about what they’re working on. It’s not a corporate environment; it’s more like a place where you can just come in and ask a question. The weather gets really hot in the summer, so the fan is always going. We don’t have fancy displays or anything like that. We just keep things on the shelves where they fit. It’s a simple way to run a business. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a bit over the years, but we’re still here in the same spot in Sant Nagar doing what we do every day. Usually, someone is around to help out.
