Our shop, Ranjit Arts, is at C-19/1 in Old Govind Pura. We are on Parwana Road, not too far from Baldev Park in Krishna Nagar. It’s a good spot, but the traffic during the evening rush is really something. We’ve been doing art and sign painting here for a long time. Everything is done by hand or with simple tools. The smell of paint is always in the air. Sometimes I forget to wash my hands and end up with blue or red stains on my lunch. The shop is small and packed with canvases and half-finished signs. We don’t have a website or anything like that. People just know us from word of mouth or by walking past the shop. We’ve painted boards for almost every shop on this street at one point or another. The floor is stained with years of spilled ink and paint. We have a small stool for customers to sit on while they wait. My father started this place, and I’ve just kept it going. We don’t use those fancy computers much. It’s more about the brush and the paint. Sometimes the weather is too humid and the paint takes forever to dry, which is a headache. We just take things one day at a time. It’s a decent life. Krishna Nagar has its problems, but it feels like home to us. We’ve seen many businesses come and go, but we are still here, painting away at our little table every day.
