R K Antiques & Colours

R K Antiques & Colours is run out of C-2/112 in Yamuna Vihar. Our place is a bit of a mix between an old storage room and a shop. We have shelves filled with different pigments and paints, and then there are the older items we’ve collected over the years sitting in the corners. It smells a bit like old wood and linseed oil when you first walk in. Yamuna Vihar is a residential neighborhood, so we get a lot of locals walking by and peeking through the door to see what we have. The shop isn't very organized in a modern way; you kind of have to look around to find the interesting bits. We spend time cleaning off the dust from the antiques and mixing colors for people who need something specific. There is a small courtyard in the back where we sometimes leave things to dry in the sun. It’s a peaceful way to spend the day, even if the work can be a bit messy. Our furniture is mostly old stuff we decided to keep for ourselves rather than sell. We don't have a website or any digital displays in the window. People usually hear about us from their friends or just by living on the same street for a long time. We take our time with things and don't like to rush because that's when mistakes happen with the colors.
