Padharo Mhare Desh

Padharo Mhare Desh is located at Q-10/154 right in the middle of the busy Katran Market in Mangolpuri. If you’ve ever been to this market, you know it’s a maze of narrow lanes filled with every kind of cloth you can imagine. Our shop is quite small, but we pack it with as many rolls of fabric and traditional items as we can fit. The name is a greeting from our home state, and we try to be friendly to everyone who squeezes inside. We have piles of cotton, bright silks, and fabrics with all kinds of patterns. Most of our day is spent unrolling these fabrics so that customers can see the designs and feel the weight of the cloth. There is always a lot of dust and lint in the air from all the cutting, which makes us cough sometimes. We have a small wooden stool for people to sit on while they haggle over the price. It’s a very loud environment with other shopkeepers calling out and customers bargaining everywhere. My wife and I manage the shop together, and we usually bring our lunch from home to eat behind the counter. We’ve been in Katran Market for a long time now and have seen it change quite a bit. It’s a lot of standing and talking, but we enjoy seeing the beautiful clothes people make from our fabrics. We just keep going day by day.
