Being located at H. No. 68/C on Street No. 16 in Adrash Mohalla, things can get pretty crowded. Moujpur is the kind of place where everyone knows what their neighbor is doing. Our space is basically part of the house, so it has that lived-in feeling that you don’t get in big office buildings. There is always noise coming from the street, kids playing or someone selling vegetables from a cart. Inside, we have our desks set up and there is usually a stack of papers somewhere that needs sorting. We started Voice Of India because we wanted to have something of our own in the middle of the community. It isn't a large operation by any means. Most days are spent on the phone or typing away while the ceiling fan hums overhead. It gets quite warm in the afternoons, but we just keep the door open to catch whatever breeze comes through the mohalla. Sometimes the internet acts up and we all have to take a break until it decides to work again. It is a simple setup with mismatched chairs and a lot of pens that always seem to go missing when you need them. We like being part of the local life here. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down over the rooftops. We don’t have big signs or anything. People just know where we are.
