M. L. Impex

M. L. Impex is tucked away in the Ganpati Apartments on Alipur Road. Our office is A-17, which is basically just a converted apartment space in Civil Lines. It’s much quieter here than in other parts of Delhi, which we really appreciate. We mostly handle import and export documents and talk to people about moving goods across the borders. The rooms are filled with samples of different things we’ve traded over the years, and there are maps pinned to the walls. It feels more like a home than a corporate office because of the way the building is set up. We don’t have many walk-in customers; it’s mostly just us handling things over the phone and through email. The balcony gives us a little view of the trees on Alipur Road, which is a nice break from the computer screen. We’ve been here for a long time and the neighbors all know us. It’s a small operation, just a few of us sitting at desks and keeping track of where the containers are. We don’t go for any of that high-pressure sales talk. We just do the work, file the customs papers, and make sure the logistics are moving along. Sometimes the internet is slow, and we have to wait around, but that’s just part of life here. It’s a decent, quiet place to work and we’re happy with how things are. We just take things one day at a time.
