Kamal Sanitary And Hardware is a local shop located at Lajpat Nagar I, E- 186. We’ve been here for years, and the shop is pretty much filled to the ceiling with pipes, wrenches, and all sorts of bathroom fixtures. It’s a dusty place because of all the metal and ceramic stuff we keep, so we’re always wiping things down, though it never seems to stay clean for long. My father started this place, and I’ve been helping out since I was a kid. We don’t have a fancy showroom. Most of the time, customers come in with a broken part and ask if we have a replacement that fits. We spend a lot of time digging through bins and climbing ladders to find that one specific washer or bolt someone needs. Lajpat Nagar is always crowded, so there’s a constant stream of people walking by. Some just stop in to ask for directions or the time. We don’t do any big marketing. We just have the name on the board outside, which is starting to fade a bit from the sun. It’s hard work, standing on your feet all day and dealing with people who want to haggle over a few rupees. But it’s a living, and we know our stock better than anyone else in the block. It’s just us at E- 186, selling what people need to fix their homes. We aren't doing anything special, just helping out our neighbors when things leak. We usually close up late.
