If you walk down Gali Number 8 in Laxmi Nagar, near the metro station, you’ll find us at Shop Number 64A. We’re in Building Number D 223. It’s a bit of a maze back here, but once you find the spot, it’s easy to remember. Kala Mandir Arts And Publicity has been around this neighborhood for a long time. We started out doing hand-painted signs years ago, and though things have changed with technology, we still have that old-school way of doing things. The shop is full of samples, some of them are pretty old and faded now. We do all sorts of publicity work and art-related tasks. It’s not a fancy studio. Most of the time, the floor is covered in scraps of paper or bits of paint. Since we’re so close to the metro, we get a lot of foot traffic. People pop in to ask for a small banner or some flyers. We don’t really have a set routine; we just deal with whatever comes through the door. Some days we’re working on big outdoor signs, and other days it’s just small stuff for a local birthday party. We don't spend money on big ads for ourselves. We just rely on people seeing our work out on the street. It’s a bit cramped inside with all the materials, but we know where everything is. It’s a family-run kind of place, and we like it that way. No big mission statement, just daily work.
