The temple is located right on the Sant Nagar Main Road in East of Kailash. If you’ve ever driven past, you know how busy that road gets with cars and rickshaws constantly honking. Once you step inside our gates, though, things change quite a bit. We have a lot of stairs to climb and the marble floors can get quite slippery when it rains. Most of our day is spent making sure the flower garlands are fresh and the lamps are filled with oil. There are a lot of people moving around, especially during the festival days, so we’re always busy with the cleaning. We don't really have a central office; we just meet in the hallways or near the kitchen area. The kitchen itself is huge and there’s always the smell of food being prepared for the visitors. We have to keep an eye on the shoe racks because they get disorganized very quickly when a big group arrives. The staff here aren't corporate professionals; we’re just people who live and work in the temple grounds. We wear simple clothes and spend a lot of time on our feet. It’s a lot of repetitive work, like sweeping the courtyard or directing the flow of traffic at the entrance. We see all kinds of people from the neighborhood and from far away. It’s just a regular part of life here on the main road.
