Our place is right by Delhi Gate at Rajghat. The National Gandhi Museum is a large area and it takes a lot of walking to see everything. I walk these floors every day and there is always something I missed before. The rooms are filled with old photographs and things that have been kept for many years. It is very quiet here, which is strange because the traffic at Delhi Gate is some of the loudest in the city. We spend a lot of time cleaning the glass cases and making sure the letters and books are kept safe from the humidity. The garden outside is quite big and it takes the groundskeepers all day to keep the grass trimmed. We see a lot of school groups coming through with their teachers. They make a bit of noise but it is good to see them. Sometimes I just sit on one of the benches and look at the trees. It is a place that makes you think about how things used to be. We do not have any loud music or bright screens, just the history sitting there on the walls. It is a big responsibility to look after all these old items. The museum stays open most days and we just follow the same routine of opening the gates and turning on the lights. It is a peaceful way to spend the day.
