Gurunanak Electric Works

The shop is right here on Patparganj Road 4. You can’t miss us if you are walking through Rashid Market. It’s usually quite loud outside with all the traffic and people going about their business. Inside Gurunanak Electric Works, things are a bit different. We have piles of motors, spools of wire, and old fans that need looking at. Most days start with pulling up the shutter and seeing what came in the day before. There’s a lot of dust that settles on the counters, so we spend a bit of time wiping things down before we get to the actual repairs. It is not a fancy place by any means. We have some stools for people to sit on while they wait for a quick fix, but usually, it’s just us working with the soldering iron or testing a circuit. The neighborhood knows us well. Sometimes someone just stops by to chat while we are winding a coil. We’ve been at this spot for a while now. The walls have some oil stains and the floor is a bit uneven, but it’s where we do the work. We keep the spare parts in those old wooden drawers near the back. Sometimes it takes a minute to find the right screw or a specific fuse, but we know where everything is eventually. It’s just a regular day-to-day life here in the market. We take our tea breaks when the crowd thins out a bit.
