Goodwill Enterprises

Goodwill Enterprises is over in New Seelampur, which is part of Shahdara. Our address is No.E-22. It’s a very crowded area. There are shops everywhere and people are always on the move. Finding parking is nearly impossible, so most of our customers just walk here or take a rickshaw. The building isn't much to look at. We have a small sign above the door. Inside, we’ve packed in as much as we can. It’s a bit of a squeeze. We’ve been here in Shahdara for quite a while now. We know all the other shopkeepers on the block. We help each other out when someone needs a tool or a bit of change for a customer. It’s a tight community. We don't have a big corporate structure. It’s just me and a couple of helpers. We do the work as it comes in. Sometimes we have a backlog and people have to wait a few days. We don’t like to rush things because that’s when mistakes happen. We don’t use any fancy sales talk. If we can do a job, we say so. If we can’t, we tell you that too. It’s just a regular business. We try to keep the place clean, but with so much foot traffic, it’s a constant battle with the dust. We’re just happy to be working and making a living here. It’s home for us and we've been here long enough to see the streets change.
