Our shop is located on Dalanwala Dick Road, and it is usually the best-smelling place on the block. We get here really early, often while it is still dark outside, because that is when the fresh flowers arrive. The floor is almost always a bit damp from the water we use to keep everything fresh. It’s a lot of work that people don't see, like trimming away the dead leaves and making sure the stems are cut just right. We have buckets and vases sitting everywhere. It isn't a huge space, but we make it work for what we need. People come in looking for something for a wedding or maybe they just want to say sorry to someone. We don't have a big sales pitch; we just show them what is in bloom that day. Sometimes a shipment comes in and the roses aren't quite right, so we have to scramble to find a replacement. It can be a bit stressful when there is a holiday coming up and everyone wants their delivery at the same time. Mostly, it is just us working with our hands and trying to keep the plants alive. We have been on this road for a while now and most of the neighbors know us. It’s a simple business but it keeps us very busy from dawn until we close the doors.
