We’ve been running things here at Green Hills Travel for a good number of years now. Our office is tucked away at No. 118/2 Kargi Road, and if you’ve ever walked past, you’ve probably seen the old blue door. It’s nothing fancy, just a room with a couple of desks, some maps pinned to the wall that are starting to curl at the edges, and a computer that takes way too long to start up in the morning. Most days start with a cup of tea from the stall around the corner while we look over the latest bus timings or see which train routes are actually running on time for once. People come in from the neighborhood mostly, just asking about fares or wanting to book a ticket to see family. We don't have a big fancy lobby with air conditioning that works all the time, but there’s usually a chair free if someone wants to sit and wait while we check the schedules. Sometimes the rain gets pretty heavy on Kargi Road and we have to move the files away from the window so they don't get damp. It’s just how it is. We know most of the regulars by name and they know we’re just here to help them figure out their trips. It’s a lot of paperwork and phone calls, honestly. We try to keep things organized but sometimes the desk gets buried under brochures and hand-written notes from the day before.
