Out on Anand Vihar Road, near the Cow Market in Ajabpur Kalan, is where we keep our shop, Aajanta Art. It’s a fairly quiet area compared to the main city, which suits us just fine. Most of the time, the biggest distraction is just the noise from the market nearby or the occasional truck passing by on the road. The shop is full of paints, brushes, and various boards we are working on. There is a specific smell of thinner and wet paint that hits you as soon as you walk in. We don’t have much of a showroom; it’s more of a workshop where everything happens in the open. The floor has plenty of paint spills that have dried over the years, making it look a bit like a piece of art itself, or just a mess, depending on how you look at it. We start early in the morning when the light is best for seeing colors. Our customers are mostly locals who know where we are because they’ve lived here for years. We don't really do any advertising ourselves, we just rely on people seeing our work out in the world. Sometimes the cows from the market wander a bit too close to the door, and we have to gently shoo them away. It's a steady pace of life here. We just take one job at a time and see it through until it’s finished without rushing too much.
