Fine Hardware is tucked away in Sadar Bazar, right on Chauraha Gali. If you’ve ever been to the Durga Mandir around here, you know how busy it gets, especially in the evenings when the temple bells start ringing. Our shop is small, but we try to cram in as much as we can on the walls. There are hooks with wrenches, boxes of different sized nails, and some plumbing stuff piled in the back corner. The floor is concrete and usually has a bit of metal shavings on it from cutting keys or pipes. It's a loud neighborhood with people shouting and bikes squeezing through the narrow lanes. We’ve been here at this spot for a good while now. Most of the day is spent digging through drawers to find a specific nut or bolt that someone brought in to match. Usually, the counter is covered in bits of hardware and paper scraps where we’ve scribbled down prices. It’s not the most organized place in the world, but we generally know where everything is hidden. If you come by during the rainy season, the roof drips a little near the front, so we move the cardboard boxes back toward the middle. It’s just how things are in an old bazaar like this. We drink a lot of tea while waiting for the next person to walk in with a broken hinge or a leaky faucet that needs fixing.
