Nrt Bricks

Our brick yard is over in Old Haralapur, which is part of the Harihar area. It’s a place where things move a bit slower than in the big cities. We have been making bricks here for some time now, using the local soil we can get from around the district. It is just a basic operation, really. We spend the mornings preparing the mud and the afternoons stacking whatever has dried properly in the sun. It’s a lot of physical labor, and your hands never really stay clean when you are working the kiln, but that is just how we earn a living. The sun can be quite brutal in Harihar, so we try to get most of the heavy work done before noon if we can manage it. We don’t have any fancy office or a big gate. It’s just an open space where the bricks sit in long rows until someone comes to pick them up. Neighbors stop by to chat or to see if we have enough ready for their small construction projects. We don’t do any big advertising or anything like that; people just know we are here in the old part of town. Sometimes we have a few hiccups with the firing of the kiln, especially when it is humid, but we usually figure it out. It is just a small, local business run by people who grew up around here. We just keep our heads down and keep working, day after day.
