We've been at Room 119 in the Mangaldeep Apartments for a while now. It’s right near the Jakatnaka here in Surat. Most days start pretty early because the sun gets hot fast in Gujarat. We handle a lot of steel stuff, mostly just moving things around and making sure people get what they need for their building projects. It’s not a fancy place. There are usually some papers scattered on the desk and the smell of metal is everywhere. Sometimes the traffic outside gets really loud, especially near the checkpoint, but we just keep working through it. Our neighbors know us as the guys who are always loading or unloading something. If you walk past the apartments, you’ll see our sign. It's nothing special, just a place where we do our business. We don’t have a big front office or anything like that, just this room where we keep track of the inventory and talk to the drivers. Usually, one of us is drinking tea while looking over the orders. We try to keep things simple here. If someone needs steel, they come by, we check what we have, and we figure it out. It’s been this way for years. The floor is a bit dusty from the trucks coming in and out, but that’s just how it is when you’re dealing with this kind of work. We’re just regular people trying to make a living in this part of town.
