Sdm Hospital

Our hospital is located over in Ujire, which is a bit of a drive from Mangalore. It feels a lot different than those big city hospitals you see in the news. Things are a bit slower here, which is sometimes a good thing for the patients. We get a lot of people from the surrounding villages who come in for all sorts of reasons, from minor scrapes to more serious things that need a longer stay in a ward. The building is simple and we try to keep it as clean as we can, though the dust from the road always seems to find its way in somehow. Most of the staff here have lived in this area for a long time, so we know many of the families who walk through our doors. It’s not a fancy place with high-tech gadgets at every corner, but we have the basics covered and we do what we can for everyone who visits. Sometimes it gets really busy during the monsoon season when more people get sick, and we all have to pull extra hours to keep up. We don’t spend much time on fancy talk or making brochures. We just show up for our shifts, do the work, and help the people who need it. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except when the emergency room gets a sudden influx of people. We are just a local hospital trying to stay helpful for the community around Ujire.
