We are located out in Dhigawa Jattan, which is a small village near Loharu. Our place is in the Bhagwati Goyal Market, not far from Kari Road. It’s a bit of a drive if you’re coming from the city. The pace here is much slower than what you find in big towns. We spend a lot of time dealing with local goods and talking to the people from the surrounding farms. The market can get pretty crowded on certain days, especially when the trucks are arriving with new loads. Our office is simple, just a room with some chairs and a wooden table where we keep our logs and ledgers. It can get quite dusty in the dry season. We don't have fancy air conditioning, just the breeze coming through the open door if we're lucky. People know us by name around here. We handle things as they come, nothing too complicated. Most of the work is just keeping track of what’s going out and what’s coming in. We drink a lot of water because of the heat in this part of the country. Sometimes the village dogs wander in looking for shade under our table. We don't mind. It's a quiet life for the most part, except for when the harvest is in. Then everybody is working late into the evening. We’ve lived and worked here for many years, so we know the land and the local people quite well. It’s just home for us. Sometimes the power cuts out, so we keep a flashlight handy in the desk drawer just in case.
