Om Oil & Flour Mills Ltd (Ruchi)

Our place is down in the Khapuria Industrial Estate, specifically at Type-II, No. 8. If you know the area, it's mostly warehouses and factories around here. It gets quite dusty on the roads, especially when the big trucks come through to pick up loads. We’ve been running the oil and flour mills here for a good bit of time. The machines make a lot of noise, so you get used to shouting a bit just to be heard over the grinding and pressing. Every morning the smell of fresh grain and oil is the first thing you notice when you open the shutters. It’s a big space but it fills up fast with sacks of flour and those heavy oil tins. We don’t have a fancy front desk or anything. It’s just the mill floor and a small corner for the paperwork. Most of the guys here have been with us for years, so we all know the routine by heart. Sometimes the power goes out in the estate and everything goes quiet, which is always a bit strange. We spend a lot of time cleaning the equipment because the dust from the flour gets everywhere. It’s hard work, and your hands stay pretty oily, but it’s what we do. We just keep the production going day after day, making sure the bags are filled and stacked properly for the morning dispatch.
