Down in the village of Tandikana, which is near Adushpur in Cuttack, you’ll find Navneet Das. We are quite far from the noise of the big cities here in Orissa. Our business is a small one, and it’s run right out of the village. We don't have a big office building or any of those fancy things you see in the city. It’s just a practical space where we can sit down and get our work done. Most of the people we help are our own neighbors and people from the surrounding villages in the 754010 area. We’ve lived here our whole lives, so everyone knows who we are. We don't bother with marketing or trying to sell ourselves to people. If someone needs something, they usually just walk over to our door. Life in the village is a bit slower, and we like it that way. We don't have a big corporate hierarchy. It’s just us, working hard every day. Sometimes the rains make it hard to get around, or the power goes out for a few hours, but we just wait it out and get back to work when we can. We don't have any big slogans or goals. We just want to do a good job and be useful to the community. It’s a simple life, but it’s ours. We value being straightforward and honest with everyone we meet, because in a small village, your reputation is all you really have.
