This branch of the Larsen & Toubro Ltd. Ecc Div. is located over in Cuttack, specifically in Gopinathapur. You have to go through Athagarh to find us, which is a nice drive if the weather is holding up. We are set up at Pravakar Muduli’s place. It’s more of a local setup than what you might see in the big cities. People here know each other by name. The post office is in Dorad, and that’s where all our mail goes before it finds its way to the desk here. We don’t have a big glass building or anything like that. It’s just a practical spot where the work gets done. Most days involve a lot of checking on local projects and making sure the supplies are where they need to be. Orissa can get quite hot in the summer, so we usually start early to get the bulk of the outdoor work finished before noon. If you are looking for us, ask around at the village; someone will point you toward the house. We have been part of the landscape here for a bit now. Being in a place like Cuttack means you have to be ready for the rain during monsoon season, which usually slows things down on the roads. We just keep the files dry and keep moving. It is a quiet kind of life compared to the headquarters, but there is always something that needs fixing or filing. We just take it day by day.
