Our shop is number 29 over in Januganj, right in the Renugulai area. It is a bit of a tight squeeze inside, but we have managed to make it work for us. Being so close to the Jaggannath Temple means we get a lot of people walking past the door, especially during the festivals or on certain days of the week when things get really crowded outside. We spend most of our time in the back getting things ready. It is a lot of chopping and stirring and making sure the supplies haven't run low. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who have been here for a while. The kitchen gets hot, especially in the summer months, and the smell of cooking stays on your clothes all day. We try to keep things simple because that is what works best in a small space like this. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we just haven't found the time to get around to it yet. People come in and out, some stay for a bit and others are in a hurry. We just try to get the food out as fast as we can without making mistakes. It is a lot of routine, day in and day out, but it pays the bills and we know the regulars who live around Januganj. We are just local people doing our bit every day in this shop.
