Arpata Rice Mill

My family has been running Arpata Rice Mill out here in Krishnaprasad Village for quite some time. It’s located near the Narasinghpur Post Office, so it isn't hard to find if you're in the area. We spend most of our days processing paddy that local farmers bring in from the surrounding fields. The machinery is loud and it gets quite dusty inside, but that is just part of the job. We focus on getting the husking done right so the rice comes out clean for the families in Narasinghpur Tehsil. It’s hard work, especially when the harvest season hits and the trucks are lined up outside. We aren't a giant factory or anything like that, just a local mill doing what we know how to do. Some days the power goes out and we have to wait, which can be frustrating for everyone. My hands are usually covered in grain dust by noon. We store the sacks in the warehouse area until they are ready to be picked up or sent out. It’s a routine we’ve followed for years now. People know us around the district for being straightforward about the weight and the quality. We don't have a big office or a receptionist, you just walk in and find us near the hullers. It's a messy business but it keeps the village fed. We try to keep the machines oiled and running even though they are getting old. Sometimes the noise is constant from dawn until dusk.
