Being in Proddatur, we are right in the middle of a busy area, but being upstairs makes it a little bit quieter than the street level. The office is pretty basic. We have some wooden desks and old cupboards for all the records we have to keep. It’s the kind of place where you have to take your shoes off sometimes if the floor was just cleaned. We handle the cement business for this part of the town and the nearby areas. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, so the ceiling fans are a must. Most of the people who come by are local contractors or people building their own houses. We don't have any big marketing brochures lying around; we just talk to people and write things down in our ledgers. The stairs can be a bit steep, but we’re used to them. It’s a very local operation where everyone knows each other by name. We spend a lot of time checking on stock levels and making sure the deliveries are on schedule. It’s not a complicated life, just honest work dealing with the daily needs of the construction trade. Sometimes we have tea brought up from the shop downstairs while we go over the day’s figures. It’s just how we operate every day.
