M R K Sugar Mill

We are out here at 321, Kumbakonam Main Road. It gets very busy during the harvest season. Sethiathope isn't a huge place but the mill keeps a lot of people moving around here. We have been at this spot for a while now. Some days the machinery is so loud you can’t hear yourself think over the crushing. It is just part of life at the mill. People come and go through the main gates all day. We handle the cane that comes in from the local fields nearby. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until late at night. The office is small and usually has some paperwork piling up on the desks. We try to keep things organized but sometimes it gets hectic when the trucks line up on the road. You can see the smoke from the stacks from a good distance away. We do not have fancy lobbies or anything like that. Just the mill and the people who work here every day. The road outside is always full of traffic heading towards Kumbakonam. It gets hot in the afternoons but we just keep the machines running. The rain sometimes leaks through the corner of the shed and we have to move the bags around. We have a couple of stray dogs that hang around the gates and they are like part of the staff now. That is pretty much how things go around here at M R K Sugar Mill.
