Keyem Steel

Keyem Steel is located over at Plot 60 on the second street in Min Nagar. Chidambaram is a place where people know each other, and we have been part of the landscape here for some time now. Dealing with steel isn't exactly the cleanest work you can find, but it is what we do every day. If you walk by P.R. Mohan’s area, you’ll probably see us moving things around or checking the inventory. It gets pretty hot during the summer months, and the metal doesn’t make it any cooler, but that is just how it goes in this line of work. We don't have a fancy showroom with air conditioning or anything like that. It’s just a practical space where we handle the heavy lifting. Sometimes the trucks struggle to turn into the street if there are too many bikes parked, which happens more often than not. We just try to stay organized and keep the orders moving out to where they need to go. Most of the people working here have been around for years, so we have a rhythm that works for us. It’s not a corporate setup with meetings and ties. We wear work clothes and drink a lot of tea to keep going through the afternoon. The neighborhood is mostly quiet besides the sound of the loading, and we like it that way. If you’re looking for the spot, just look for the gates near the end of the street.
