We are based in Salbari, which is a small area near Talibari over in Toofanganj. Our address is care of Adhir Ch Sahabara. We deal with the genetics side of agriculture, which I know sounds more complicated than it actually is when you're doing it. It's mostly about looking at seeds and how they grow in our local soil conditions. We aren't a massive lab with people in white coats or expensive machines. We are just local folks interested in how to make the crops better for everyone around here. Toofanganj is our main area and we spend a lot of time out in the fields checking on how things are progressing. It’s a private company on paper but it feels more like a local project. The work is slow and takes a lot of patience. You can't really rush nature no matter how much you want to. We don't have a big marketing department or anyone to write fancy stuff for us. We just talk to the farmers nearby and show them what we are doing in the plots. Sometimes things don't grow the way we expected and we have to start all over again. That’s just part of the job. It's quiet work mostly. We have our small office and our test plots out the back. It’s enough for what we do. We like being in this part of West Bengal and keeping things on a small scale. It feels more real that way than being in a big city.
