Balaji Hardware

Balaji Hardware is on N. N. Road, right near the SBI Cooch Behar Bazar Branch. Being so close to the bank means there’s always a lot of activity outside our front door. Our shop is one of those places where you can find almost anything if you look hard enough. We have hammers, saws, door handles, and buckets of all sizes. The shelves are a bit crooked because they’ve been holding heavy tools for years. We don’t really bother with fancy displays or clever signs. We just put the stock out where people can see it. Most mornings, we spend time sorting through the new arrivals and checking what needs to be reordered. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting boxes and carrying heavy items to people’s vehicles. We get a lot of locals who are just trying to fix a leaky tap or put up a shelf. We’ve known some of these customers for years, and we usually end up talking about the town or the weather while they shop. The Bazar area is always noisy, but it’s a good kind of noise that tells you the day is moving along. We aren’t trying to compete with the big stores in the city. We just want to provide the things our neighbors need for their houses. It’s a simple business, and we like the routine of opening up every day and seeing who walks through the door to ask for a handful of nails.
