Tarini Brick Field

We’ve been here in Dharmasadbar for quite a long time now. Tarini Brick Field isn't some huge company with a fancy office, it's just us out here in Purba Midnapur doing what we know. Most days it’s dusty and the sun is pretty hot, but that’s the nature of making bricks. People from around the district come to us because they know where to find the yard. We start early when the air is still a bit cool. You can see the stacks of red bricks from the main road if you're looking for us. It’s hard work, getting the clay right and keeping the kilns going properly, but it’s what keeps the lights on. We don’t have a website or anything like that usually, just the gate and the brick piles. Sometimes the weather makes things difficult, especially when it rains heavy and we have to cover everything up fast. It’s a simple setup. My family has been involved in this for a bit. We just try to make sure every load that goes out on a truck is solid enough for whatever wall someone is building. If you drive down toward the village, you’ll see the chimney. It’s a local spot, nothing more. We mostly talk to the drivers and the local builders who’ve been buying from us for years. It isn’t glamorous, but it is honest work. We have been here through many seasons, watching the village grow. It’s just us, the mud, and the fire.
