Amar Bangla Channel

Amar Bangla Channel operates out of a small place in Contai, specifically in the Villpostp.S. area of Purba Midnapur. It’s a long way from the big cities, but that’s exactly where we need to be. Our setup is pretty basic. We have a few rooms converted into a workspace where we handle all the local broadcasting needs. It’s not a shiny glass building. Most of the time, you can hear the sounds of the village outside while we are trying to record something. We have been here for a bit, and everyone in the locality knows where to find us if they have something to share. The power can be a bit unreliable sometimes, so we have a generator that makes a lot of noise, but it keeps the lights on. It’s mostly just a handful of us doing everything from filming to editing. We don't have fancy titles or a big HR department. If a lightbulb breaks, one of us gets the ladder and fixes it. We drink a lot of tea and talk about the local news over lunch. It’s a quiet life in Purba Midnapur, but the work keeps us on our toes. We spend a lot of time travelling to nearby villages to see what’s happening. It’s just us trying to make sure the local voice gets heard without making it sound too complicated. We’re just happy to be part of the community here.
