You can find Vijay Engineering Equipment (I) Pvt. Ltd. over at 13, Ramamoorty Nagar, right on the Old Karur Bypass Road. It’s a good spot because the bypass road makes it easy for trucks to get in and out without getting stuck in the narrow city streets. We have a decent sized warehouse here where we keep all the engineering equipment. Most mornings we spend a good hour just moving things around so we can reach the items that need to go out that day. It is a lot of shuffling and organizing. The air in the warehouse usually smells like cold metal and maybe a bit of packing tape. We have a small office partitioned off from the main floor where we keep the computer and the files. It gets a bit hot in there during the afternoon but we have a fan that helps a little. We don't really have a lot of walk-in customers since most of our business is done over the phone or through regular contacts we have had for years. It’s a steady kind of life. We know the regular drivers who come by and we know which parts of the road have the worst potholes. We don't have any big mission statements or anything. We just make sure the equipment is where it needs to be when the customer expects it and that is enough for us.
