U. Devaraj Stores

We are located at 1/2 Kalki Street in Rathinapuri. It is a quiet enough street most of the time, except when the school nearby is starting or finishing for the day. Being right opposite the Corporation Higher Secondary School means we see a lot of students and parents every day. U. Devaraj Stores is just a small local shop. We sell the basic things that every household in Coimbatore needs, like spices, rice, and different types of lentils. The shop has been in the family for some time. We don't have a lot of help, so it is usually just one or two of us behind the counter. The shelves are wooden and old, and we have jars of sweets for the school kids near the front. People from the Rathinapuri neighborhood come by to get their daily milk or some matches. It is a simple life here. We open up early in the morning before the first bell rings at the school. Sometimes the street gets a bit crowded with bicycles and scooters, but that is just part of living in this area. We don't do any big advertising or anything. People just know we are here on Kalki Street if they need a kilo of sugar or some tea dust. It is a practical business and we just focus on getting through the daily list of chores. We just try to make sure we have what people are looking for when they walk through the door.
