Tamil Nadu Egg Farm

We are located at 138-A on Police Kantha Swamy Street in Ganesha Puram. It’s a busy street and you can usually hear the sounds of the neighborhood all day long. Running an egg farm means our day starts well before the sun comes up. The birds need to be fed and the eggs have to be collected while it's still relatively cool outside. It’s a dusty job and there’s always a lot of cleaning to do to keep the place decent. We spend most of our time out back where the cages are, then move to the small front area to sort the eggs by size. My shoes are usually a bit of a mess by lunchtime. We don't have a big shiny office, just a small counter where we handle the sales. Locals from the street come by to pick up their crates and we chat for a bit. It is noisy and smells like a farm, which is just part of the reality of this business. We don’t use any fancy machinery for the sorting, just our hands and a bit of light. Sometimes the trucks have a hard time navigating the street because it's a bit narrow but we make it work. It’s a lot of physical labor but it keeps us busy and the eggs moving out to the customers every single day. We stay pretty focused on the chores and don't worry about much else. It's just eggs and early mornings.
