You can find us over at Veerakeralam, specifically at Door No. 7-A in the Subash Nagar extension. It’s a bit of a mouthful to say the address, but it’s a nice enough spot near KRK Nagar. Here at Sree Gurupriya Spices, the air is always sharp. Some days it’s turmeric that turns everything yellow, and other days it’s the chili that makes everyone sneeze. We don't have those fancy air filtration systems you see in big factories. We just open the windows and let the breeze in from the Coimbatore South hills. It’s a lot of heavy lifting. The sacks of raw spices are heavy, and moving them around keeps us fit. We spend a lot of time checking the quality, looking for stones or stalks that shouldn't be there. It’s tedious work, sitting there under the light, but it has to be done. We have some grinding stones and small mills that run for most of the morning. The sound is constant. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there. We just want to make sure the packets we send out are full of the real stuff. Sometimes the power goes out, which is common around here, and we just sit outside and wait for it to come back. It gives us a chance to talk to the neighbors. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living in this part of Tamil Nadu.
