Sree Abirami Hospital

If you look for number 33 on Madukkarai Road, that is where Sree Abirami Hospital is. It is right there in Sundarapuram, surrounded by small stores and local houses. The entrance has a small ramp for wheelchairs and some steps for everyone else. We spend a lot of our time in the front office dealing with paperwork and answering the same questions about visiting hours. The hospital is not the biggest place, but it keeps us on our feet all day long. We have a tile floor that we try to keep clean, though it is hard with people coming in from the dusty road all day. The rooms are basic with standard beds and a small locker for belongings. We have a little area where the staff drinks tea during their breaks, usually tucked away near the back of the building. The lighting is bright so we can see what we are doing when we have to write notes or check monitors. You can hear the sounds of the traffic outside throughout the day, which becomes a sort of background noise after you work here a while. We do not have any fancy signs or big marketing displays anywhere. It is just a place where we show up, put on our uniforms, and help the people who walk through the door. Some days are very quiet and others are completely packed with people, but we just handle whatever comes. It is a straightforward way to work.
