At No. 33 Madukkarai Road, you will find Sree Abirami Hospital Private Limited. It is a familiar sight in Sundarapuram for anyone who has lived here more than a few months. The building is functional and does not have any of those modern glass walls you see in the newer parts of the city. We have a simple routine where the cleaning starts early in the morning before the first patients arrive. The lobby has some old chairs and a TV that is usually tuned to the news but with the volume turned way down so it does not bother anyone. Our staff wears blue or white uniforms, and you can usually find them scurrying around the different floors. We have an elevator, but it is a bit small and slow, so it is mostly for patients who cannot walk the stairs. The files are kept in big metal cabinets behind the front desk, and sometimes it takes a minute to find the right one if the system is being slow that day. We get a lot of people coming in for minor things and some who have to stay for a few days. The air in the hospital is always a bit cool because of the AC units, which is a relief from the heat on Madukkarai Road. We do not spend money on big advertisements or anything like that. We just focus on the work right here at our address and hope the day goes smoothly.
