Silkart Overseas

We spend most of our time out here at Silkart Industrial Garden in Kurumbapalayam. It’s a bit of a way out in Avinashi, but it’s where we do all the work. The place is at S.F. No. 550/4A. It gets pretty busy during the week with trucks coming and going. Most of us have been around here for a while, so we know the local area well. We deal with silks and textiles, mostly just keeping things moving from the machines to the packing area. It’s not a fancy office or anything like that. Just a practical workspace with a lot of fabric everywhere. Sometimes the heat in the afternoon gets a bit much, but that’s just how it is in this part of Cheyur. We start early in the morning to get ahead of the sun. There is always something to fix or a shipment to check on. It’s a lot of manual work, making sure the threads are right and the machines don't jam up. We don't really have a big marketing department, just a few of us making sure the orders get out to where they need to go. If you come by, you'll see the stacks of materials and the staff just getting on with things. It’s a quiet spot away from the main town center, which is nice in its own way. We've got our routine down now after all these years in this specific building. We usually have our tea breaks near the gate where we can see the street. It’s a simple life, but the work is steady and it keeps us occupied from Monday to Saturday.
