Roopam Dies & Tools

We’ve been over here on P.N. Palayam Road for a good while now. Most people know the spot because it’s right near C.M. Kalyan Mandapam in the Ganapathy Post area. It’s a busy part of town, and we’re usually tied up with some kind of die or tool work from the time we open the shutters. The shop floor at Roopam Dies & Tools isn't anything fancy to look at, but it gets the job done. You’ll usually hear the machines hum and see a bit of metal shavings on the floor by noon. My father started this, and we’ve just kept going. We spend most of our days looking at sketches or trying to get a particular tool just right. It’s not always easy work, especially when the weather gets hot in Coimbatore, but we like the routine. Some of our neighbors come by for a chat when things are slow. We don't have a big office or a bunch of people in suits. It’s just us and the machines. Sometimes we stay late when a job is tricky, and other times we’re out of here by six. We try to keep things simple and honest. If someone brings in a piece that needs fixing or a new die to be cut, we just get to it. That’s how life goes here on S.F. No. 1663B. We’re just part of the local mix of shops around here.
