We operate G Tech Engg Foundry Co out of Urunandampalayam in Coimbatore. Our place is at number 6 on Ulzhaipalar Street. If you know Coimbatore, you know it’s a city that loves its foundries and engineering work. We are right in the thick of it with all the other shops. The air around the shop always smells like hot metal and sand from the molds. That’s just part of the foundry life we've chosen. We do a lot of casting work, pouring molten iron into sand molds for all sorts of industrial parts. It’s hot, heavy work and it’s definitely not for everyone. Our crew is used to the heat and the soot that gets on everything. We don't have any fancy brochures or a glossy office to show off to visitors. Most people just come by the gate and ask for what they need directly. We’ve been at this for several years, slowly building up our collection of patterns and flasks. Sometimes the molds don't come out perfect on the first try, and we have to melt it all down and start over again. That’s just the nature of the business in a foundry. We don't make any big promises or claims, we just try to get the castings out to the customers on time. The street is usually busy with trucks picking up loads throughout the day. We’ve got a routine that works for us, even if it looks a bit chaotic to someone just passing by.
