Radha Krishna (M) Rice Mill

Radha Krishna (M) Rice Mill is located over in Pattery, specifically up on the second floor of the Mattam Market Arcade at No-767/D. It’s a bit of an interesting spot for a mill because you don’t always expect to find us on an upper floor, but it works out fine for what we do. The arcade is usually buzzing with people coming and going for their own errands. We spend most of our mornings getting things ready and the afternoons are usually for the heavier work. It can get a bit dusty and the sound of the machines is something you just get used to after a couple of days. We’ve been here for a while and the neighbors in the arcade know us well enough. Sometimes the elevator is busy or the stairs feel a bit steep when we are in a hurry, but that is part of the daily life here. The view from the second floor gives us a good look at what is happening down in the market. It is mostly just about getting the rice processed and handled. There are always stacks of bags around and someone is usually checking the latest batch. We don’t have any fancy office or a big waiting room. It is just a workspace where the job gets done. People from around the area stop by and we just keep the mill running as best as we can through the seasons. It is hard work but it keeps us busy.
