Poorani Hospital

Living and working in Pongalur has its own pace, which most people around here are used to. Our spot for Poorani Hospital is right across from the State Bank, which makes it easy for folks to find us if they are already running errands in town. You often see people crossing the road after finishing their banking business. The parking outside can be a bit of a mess on Mondays when everyone is out and about. Inside, the walls are painted a light color that we try to keep fresh, though the corners always seem to collect a bit of dust. We have a few benches for people to sit on while they wait for their turn. It’s not a quiet place because of the traffic and the noise from the bank entrance, but we don’t mind it much. The doctors and the nursing staff are usually busy with charts and talking to patients about their families. We know a lot of the people who come through the door by their first names. It’s a local operation, and we don't try to make it something it isn't. When the afternoon sun hits the front windows, it gets quite warm, so we keep the overhead fans on high. Usually, there is a bit of a breeze if we leave the side door open. We spend a lot of time just organizing files and making sure the supplies are where they belong. It is a practical setup for the community that lives around the bank and visits us.
